24 May, Saturday

Theme:  Irish History – 1170 to 1700

We woke up, packed, and then took the bus to Trim Castle and St. Peter’s in Drogheda which was a 45 minute drive.

Then we had a group lunch in Drogheda at Bru restaurant. After lunch we went into St. Oliver's church to see the face and take pictures. I know my Grandma will be very happy that I went in some churches in Ireland.

Then we drove for 3 hrs to Bushmills hostel. It’s a very small town, a one street village. It’s very scary, unfriendly, and dangerous. We saw some people walking down the street with blood on their face. This seem to be common in the Northen Ireland.

There was nothing to do in that village so we stayed at the hostel and played cards.

The hostel owner locked the gate at 11pm so we can’t leave or other people entering the area. This made it a bit safer for us.

Extra Information about the country of Ireland: I notice in Dublin that they have alot of safety equipment set up. It look like they are willing to spend more money on safety than wait for people to sue them. For example: in Dublin they have traffic signals with a button that beeps every 30 seconds where a blind person could hear to find it, then it beep fast when it's safe to cross. I could put my hand on it to feel it. Also on the street they have an arrow that says look left or right so we know which way to look before crossing the street.

In Drogheda, all their street poles are red and white stripe so people can see it so they don't hit it. I like that and wish it'll be the same here in America.  Also they have a big river and they have the rescue tube on the side of the river and a phone. I think that's very prepared in case someone falls in the water.

Also all the city buses are double decker but still they have all the safety exits. The coach we rode have a door on both sides and in the back in case of a emergency.

Here are the pictures of our coach

Thanks to our bus driver Gary for his time driving us the whole three weeks.
