We’re here! We arrived in Dublin, Ireland around 8:30am. We went through the passport process and found our bags and got on the bus and went to our hostel. We locked our bags in a storage room until late afternoon.
Before getting on the bus, a vet
checked Spencer to approve him into the country. I asked why no tag or
stamp? He responded “everyone respects guide dogs in this country.” That
surprised me. I wish they could do as well in America.
Tony,
Sam, Jodi, and I went to buy Spencer some food and fed him. Then we did
the Scavenger Hunt! We
had to go around Dublin and find things and take
pictures of them. I ate
lunch at a pub with Jodi’s family.
After lunch, we did some walking through the park and I found an area which is called the “Blind Garden.” It had a wall with the plant names printed in braille.
Then
we did some walking in the city taking some more pictures of the Trinity College.
Then
we headed back to Kinlay House – Dublin (hostel) and checked in. Then we
went to dinner at Ciao Bella Roma on Parliament Street in Temple Bar.
It’s all pasta food, and I have a small glass of white wine to start
with. After
dinner, I went with some of the other students to a couple of pubs to
watch the soccer game. London vs MA, USA. All
the hostels have bunk beds. Most of them have 4 people but one had 8 in
one room.
Time
Zone: Their time zone is 6 hrs ahead of CST
Pet
Store: When we walked into the pet store in Dublin which is about 3
blocks away from our hostel, they only carry Pro-Plan dog food and
that’s what Spencer usually eats. He was a very happy dog to smell them
in the store. I got him a 20 lb bag and that last for the whole 3
weeks.
